Cactus Cuties by mrsthing on 11 January 2009 10:53pm

Every time someone emails me a link to a video of a child who has "amazing" talent, I roll my eyes. Usually, the child is talented, but nothing out of the ordinary. The parents are justifiably proud, but they'd better not give up their day jobs to manage their kid's career just yet.

But these little girls are truly amazing! They range in age from 8 to 13, and bill themselves as the Cactus Cuties. It's a short clip of them singing the US national anthem in 5-part harmony. 1:43.

Lord, they DO have talent. I've never heard of them until now. Are they still about the same age or are these old videos? I looked at more than the one you mentioned here.

I gather from the comments that this video is about a year old. Someone who seems to know said the girls were 13, 10, 11, 11, and 8 (L-R) at the time of the video, and now they're 14, 11, 12, and 9, and the second girl from the right is no longer singing with them.

Here's their website, if you want more info: http://thecactuscuties.com/

Surely not Kazzzz!!! After all she is a PALINITE baby ;)

But I must say they were very good - I was only going to listen to a few seconds of the vid but ended up listening to it all!

:)

Ava only needs to BE to surpass the Cuties! lol

My God, they ARE good! The Star Spangled Banner is an octave plus a fifth and that makes it damn near impossible to sing. Even the usual pop stars have trouble with it. But they made it sound beautiful! Well done, kids!

I noticed the lead singer had some difficulty with the low notes, no doubt because the song had been put into a key that avoided high notes. You're right, the SSB is hard to sing. Nobody ever sings it at ball games anymore. Well, except for me. But I haven't been to a ball game in years.
