Sadly passed away yesterday. Loved "May You Never" from the album "Solid Air".

I know I could google it Linz but I'm sorry to say that I've never heard of the man. I regret to hear the passing of anyone though, as there is always someone ( hopefully ) that mourns.
Re: John Martyn by bIG bLOGGER on 30 January 2009 2:00pm
John Martyn was a 60-year old acclaimed British folksinger/songwriter/guitarist,who grew up in Glasgow, and played his early gigs in the folkclubs there.

Lately I've noticed that (oftentimes) when perfectbitch posts a new thread,it means somebody famous has died.
Like the bIG black raven sitting on the fence-post:it sits, but when it croaks, there's been another death.

I'm sorry bIG, I can't be expected to know everything ! I just had a quick look on wikipedia and apparently John was a fan of Hamish Imlach. Now there is a guy that some of you overseas guys would enjoy. ( I'll translate )

Actually biG bLOGGER, I've noticed that too but I assure you it's just coincidence it just seems that many who I admire have died recently. I'm no raven, I can assure you. In fact, I waited to see if anyone else posted on the subject before I posted.

Johhny - the album "Solid Air" is well worth a listen.

Linz (harbinger of death) : ).

Thought I would look in the obituries for the first time tonight, and, its amazing to see the range of ages and such like, even more amazing, in the Staffordshire newsletter dated 29/01/09,
everyone seems to have passed away in alphabetical order!
(Think i`ll send it to `Ripleys believe it or not`)

Funnily enough, Wheelie, I read that column first...at least I do once I have checked the Sports pages to see if my son's footie team are mentioned (he plays goalie for Holmcroft Northend in the Stafford Sunday League (they were undefeated this season until last Sunday) but I digress...

I always look in that column to see if anyone I know or anyone my parents knew, etc, is no more. I then turn to the Announcements page which is usually the page before.

Sometimes, to make life more interesting, I look at the Announcements first and THEN the Deaths !!!

[When I got my degree, my husband put a notice about it - complete with picture - in the paper, and left it open on the page. I didn't notice for AGES !!!]

Linz, I emailed bIG and asked her to remove her comments towards you but I was obviously ignored.
Re: John Martyn by perfectbitch on 31 January 2009 9:39am
Thank you Johnny. I really can't imagine how anyone could ignore you! : ).

Re: John Martyn by johnnythemonkey on 31 January 2009 11:20am
Linz, I hope I'm not making you feel sad here, it was just that bIG was making jokes about you posting on some recent celebrity deaths, which in her defence was quite innocent but since I know that you lost your husband at at a young age not so long ago, I thought that you may have been hurt by those comments. I think bIG is an OK person and would'nt know those comments could be hurtful.
