  The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Our hearts are with you by mrsteabag on 22 February 2009 3:36pm
Today is the national Day of Mourning in Australia.
I/we give thanks that Kazzz, Missy and their loved ones came thru unscathed physically.
My prayers are that those who lost loved ones be supported in the the journey through their grief; for release from all fears; for healing and restoration of lives impacted; justice;
and that the world as a whole be healed from whatever wounds we bear that cause us to continually degrade our planet and selfishly engage in destructive behavior with no thought of how it will impact others.

Well said, Fran. I join you in my heartfelt hope for fast recovery from all losses and difficulties for all impacted by this terrifying fire.

Both Pete and Fran have expressed the same sentiments I have. I can't really add more than they already have.

The earth is a wonderful example of resilience and hope in the face of disaster and tragedy. I hiked through what was left of a large swath of forest that had been mostly destroyed by fire 3 months before. It still smelled of smoke, but there were green ground plants growing, and small rodents and song birds active. Farther along, we came to a place that had been devastated by fire 2 years before. There was a crop of waist-high undergrowth, berry vines, and saplings. We saw moose and hawks active in that area.

May the survivors of the fire have hearts and minds that are as stubbornly resilient and alive as the earth is. People all over the world are pulling for you.

Thanxs guys. It was a great ceremony but as I have said elsewhere it was too early. They're still finding remains, it really should have been a couple of months down the track.
As we speak Kathryn is in an area under high alert and they've been told to evacuate which she is refusing to do. I am going to drop Ava off with Mum and go and get her if the road is open. It's possible they're only letting traffic out and her idiot father has left her at his house with no transport and gone to work.
