Not everyone wants to hear MP speak by sighthound on 25 May 2009 4:46am

Armed Israeli police closed down the Palestinian Festival where he was to speak.

That's a real shame. He was supposed to speak on Tuesday so if he was there already I hope he returned to London as quickly as possible--what an unsafe place to be right now.

It did say the event was held in the garden of the French Cultural Centre nearby so let's hope all the speakers were able to speak.

The festival was supported by the British Council and UNESCO. I can't see why they thought it was a political activity.

Extremists turn any event into 'political' or 'religious' offence-giving if it suits them.

Remember the naming of the teddy-bear in Africa?

I gather MP is to do a show? talk? in London on 26 June - try googling MEDICAL FOUNDATION for details. Kisch has just told me.

The show must go on, it seems...as you can see, here he was at the festival.

And it looks like he's still going to give his talk. Way to go, Michael!

Yay! Michael, you're one brave man and I wish you the best.

Glad he's giving the talk.

Linda, MP's talk in London is mentioned on the home page. Are you going?

Re: Not everyone wants to hear MP speak by geordiegirl on 28 May 2009 2:52pm

Not this one, Sue: it's at the 02 Arena (formerly Millenium Dome) at Greenwich, way too far from home on public-transport for me, but Kisch is certainly going. Have you ever met her? She's lovely.

I am hoping very much to be at a book-signing for DIARIES VOL. 2 at Hatchards, probably, after 17 September. Have you plans for this? I'm hoping the signing is before 26 September, when we go away again

Yes, I met Kisch briefly, Linda - last November at Michael's talk in aid of Campaign for Better Transport. Hope to meet up with her next month.

Will try and get to the book-signing, depending on the date.
