5th day by kazzzz on 11 July 2009 2:36am
Ava has been so ill this week, she rarely gets ill at all, usually avoids bugs.
She started vomitting Monday when Kathryn and I took her out for lunch, spent the next two days with a high temp, is drinking but hasnt eaten since Monday and it's now Saturday. It's been such a week. The doctor is monitoring her closely (managing to keep fluids into her thankfully but that's all) and the last two days she's slept a lot, which I suppose is good. The doc did a blood and a urine test on Thursday, he's really not even sure what's wrong. He's said it's probably a virus. It's so worrying when they're ill coz they can't tell you, she just says she's "sick" poor little thing. It's not swine flu tho, which was my fear.
Hope she shakes it soon. It's horrible for her.

Oh, Kazz. Oh, that poor little darling. Please let us know how she's doing later. I can't imagine not eating for such a long tme. Is she able to sleep? That little angel.... I do hope this goes away very very soon. You must be so worried, but at least your worries have been laid to rest about the swine flu virus.

Poor Ava (and poor Mom). Hope she gets well soon, Kazzzz.

Thanx guys :)
I was really worried yes coz a lot of people at Ray's work have swine flu and a lot are still working with it because they're covering other people who are off with it, everyone from work is banned from coming here while her immunity is so low.

She's had a nibble on a bread roll this afternoon and that's it, still drinking juice and water though.

Not wishing to hijack Ava's thread (and feeling a cad for doing so) but talking about swine flu I am getting worried now because I have heard the first person with my illness has it.

It is a very rare illness in which the immune system attacks the person and so we all have our immune systems 'turned off' to stop the symptoms.

I don't know why, but the fact that she has it has now made it more real, and I am JUST stopping myself from freaking out.

I know that if I'm careful etc etc I'll be fine (and I have a yearly flu jab and have had the pnemonia one too).

I keep feeling panicky but what can you do?

Sorry - back to Ava, so glad that isn't what she has got (oooh bad grammar!!).

I know 9 people with it Anne. Swine flu, I mean...

The UK has just had its first person with no underlying illness die of swine flu.
Re: 5th day by kazzzz on 12 July 2009 3:18am
She's eating:)
It's ice cream but hey if that's what she wants I'm happy as she's barely eaten for a week! She also had a little tiny nibble at a dumpling last night from a stew that I'd made. Poor little thing must be so hungry. I can see that she's lost weight, but on the good side once littlies start to pick up they usually do it fairly quickly.
