Inspiring yes - but some of the stories made me feel angry, especially that of the eagle.

I am displeased to read that a crab-fishing line cost a dolphin its tail right here off my beach.

When you go the the SeaWorld parks, the dolphin petting / feeding pool is actually populated with dolphins who were rescued from injury. The ultimate goal is to rehab them all back to the wild.

My heart was aching for this one dolphin I saw on one visit. He (she?) must have been a new arrival. His fins looked diseased and erose. One was half-missing. He just hung out near the bottom. I was watching him from the downstairs underwater glass wall.

The rest of the dolphins were swimming around and around, playing with balls and toys and each other, but this one dejected guy just hovered in one spot.

But then this one particular happy healthy dolphin would keep checking in on the hurt one. He (she?!) would keep nuzzling him and nosing him and motioning toward the top of the pool and wiggling. "Come one, it's okay, you're safe here, we love you!"

The hurt dolphin never lightened up while I was there, but his friend didn't give up on him - he kept going, feeding, swimming a lap, but always came back to check in. *brings a tear!*

Oh that's so sad. I hate to hear that sort of news. There's way too many sad animal stories. They break my heart.

I just adore dolphins, Cori and have been lucky enough to study one at close quarters (in Mexico). Her skin was so soft and I had a long 'kiss' from her at the end. My FB friends would've seen the photo!

We did the special Manatee tour at Seaworld (we had to introduce ourselves at the beginning and when the others on the tour - a group of teachers - found we were English you'd have thought they were on the tour with Posh and Becks they were so excited!! Anyway, I digress...) and most of them had had injuries. The manatees, not the teachers!!

It was really interesting and moving too. In fact we really became fond of Manatees; we swam with them in (on?) Crystal River and have now adopted one.

Sea World is my very favourite of the parks (both in Florida and California). It must be hard work and extremely sad sometimes, but how great it would be to work with the Manatees at SeaWorld!!

That's really lovely.

Going back to the turtle, I hope it survives back in the wild.
