Where the hell is my fave old American ? by johnnythemonkey on 14 August 2009 6:53am

Geraldine ( Sighthound) has been missing for too long.
Bloody dogs G, get into real life and talk to your mukkers. :)

* email on it's way to G *

I agree that veteran palinite Geraldine/Saluki-owner/Sighthound-lover seems to have been absent here for a goodly while. I'm not sure she should be addressed as a 'Yank',coming from Sacramento,California,but perhaps one of you American posters can clarify this?

OK pedantic bIG, I'll change it to American although I think that G might take up her right to be Canadian.

A Californian Canadian?

Actually, I think it's the bloody HORSES keeping Sighthound occupied at the moment. She's been politically active regarding horse treatment / slaughter legislation in California.

All Americans are yanks as far as I know. Not sure about Geraldine. Is she originally from Canada?

Also, for some reason, I had the feeling Geraldine has been rather sick lately. Could be wrong though.

I may still have her phone number, let me see if I can get hold of her.

Mike, I've spoken to Geraldine a couple of times on the phone. I don't have her number but I wouldn't want to impose on her anyway. I hope she's ok though.

Thanks,patty.

It seems the term Yankee [from the Dutch word Janke=Little John] can have 3 meanings,all of which are applicable,hence the possible confusion:

1: A native of New England
2: A Union soldier in the Civil War; or an American of the Northern states [as opposed to the Southern states]
3: An American inhabitant.

There is a fairly good definition/explanation of 'yankee' on this website,below:

I have a question. How do any of you call each other without posting your personal phone numbers? I'd be very careful doing that if I were you. Do you post it somewhere and then delete is immediately? it seems more and more people here are saying they have spoken to each other. I've never seen phone numbers posted here for the last 6 or 7 years. Just curious how this works.
