The Book Worm Goes Down Under... by thebookworm on 18 May 2003 8:47pm
Ive just started reading Bill Brysons Down Under(In the States I think its called in a sunburnt country)..This was the book all you fellow Palinites suggested that I read,if I really wanted to discover the joys of Old Billy Boy.But sorry I took nobodys advice(thats typical me,or so my lovely wife tells me,sorry adorable wife)..Im really pleased that Ive waited a few months to pick up this book,as Ive discovered 5 GEMS..The 5 gems are..Neither Here Nor There(A great read,I never knew that Amsterdam was full of Dog Shit)..Notes From A Small Island(Another great read,I always knew it would be special as its about the most beautiful place in the world,Good Old Blighty(Great Britain)..Im sure this comment alone will get a reaction..A Walk In The Woods, this is a great book telling Bills story as he trys to conquer The Appalachian Trail,I love the bit in the book when he tells us that he only felt like a real hiker after he had Shit In The Woods..Notes From A Big Country,I must admit that I couldnt put this book down,I found all the storys about the States really fascinating,I really did have a good laugh...It really can be a Quirky country..The Lost Continent the book that I have just finished, all about travelling across America, this must be one of my favourite Bryson Books, somethig that I would recommend to everyone...You cant really blame me for overdosing on Billy Boy,as Mr Palin hasnt got a new paperback in the shops for me,I suppose we will all have to wait..Take Care Everyone Im Going Now As I Have To Put On My Desert Boots For A Good Hike Across Oz With My New Best Friend...David...

I've got Bill Bryson's African Diary waiting for me to read after I've finished my current book.

It will be my first go at reading any of Bill's books!
