Sahara? Did MP really enjoy it? by amelia on 1 November 2002 5:24pm

Call me over-sensitive if you like, but I kind of get the feeling that Michael does not seem to be enjoying himself as much as he has on his previous travels. Does anyone else agree?

Yes I have thought that myself, especially the first two episodes.I wonder is it just that it seems more scripted and he knows how to get where he's going, whereas before he's had to ask local people for advice and also he has seemed to have had more time in the other series. He seems a bit more subdued to me but he's not so involved with the locals this time,so perhaps its just that.Still a fantastic series though, cant believe its the last one tomorrow.

I saw the series and did not get the impression he was not enjoying himself at all. Iím reading the book and it goes into far more detail and to me it seems he is enjoying himself. Apart from the times there is no flushing lavatory. :-)

Michael has mentioned going to the east next time, surely if he does not enjoy it anymore he would not be talking of this?

He looked really tired at times, poor boy. At a book signing afterwards though he looked very well, healthy I mean. I hope that he keeps well.
