aw she's called Ava. My Ava did pretty much that exact same thing when she saw Santa at the shops a couple of weeks ago.

I know how they felt - I was just the same!

When I was small I visualised Santa (or Father Christmas as we called him then!!) lying full stretched on his side above us in the sky, sort of leaning on one elbow with his head on his hand - if you see what I mean - watching us. Next to him, in the same position was god. This was in the days when I just accepted there was a god, before I became an atheist.

Soooo you can imagine how I felt to be in the company of such a man!!! It was total AWE!! Of course he was the REAL Father Christmas each time - you don't think, 'oh it's just a man dressed up' when you are 3!

:)

I know how this kid feels. I wasn't too fond of visiting Santa either.

Nor I. And when my grandfather stomped up the steps of our front porch bellowing 'ho-ho ho' when I was little, I was scared to death. He'd wrap on the window and my Dad or Mom would pull the curtain back so we could see his big red rouged cheeks, red robe and hat, white beard and hair. I would already be sitting halfway up the staircase looking through the posts as nervous and afraid as a little one could be. "Santa" wasn't actually wearing a Santa costume. it was a large red wool blanket draped around his shoulders. But to my brother and me, it WAS Santa Claus.
