The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Films by Spursfan on 10 February 2010 3:55pm
Three films I have seen since Monday - Avatar 3D, Dorian Gray and Invictus.

We went to see Avatar 3D on Monday. Enjoyed it (never known 2 and a half hours go so quick!!) but I was expecting things to jump out at you as they do in the i-max films (Terminator 3D was particularly good - and the special i-max version of 'The Birds' where it seems as though you have one of the birds right in front of you).

Having said that, the special effects were pretty good and the flying scenes almost took my breath away! If you are thinking of seeing this movie, don't bother with the 2D version - go for the 3D.

We also saw Dorian Gray on Monday which I recommend - an excellent movie, and yesterday we watched Invictus. Again I can't recommend this movie highly enough, it was brilliant. You DO have to listen hard to understand what everyone is saying as they have really laid the Africaan accent on thick, but it doesn't spoil the excitement. Morgan Freeman has ALMOST got Nelson Mandella's accent just right, but every so often he still sounds slightly American. Otherwise you forget he's MF and believe he is NM (somebody I would LOVE to meet).
