Cat fight!! by TERRY S on 2 March 2010 10:39pm

Hi, Guys! Snoopy has suddenly decided he hates Emony. He spits at her and refuses to be indoors with her except for food and the odd nap. Sometimes the odd vicious fight breaks out. Our last resort would be to return Emony to the cat shelter, but that's something we don't want to do. Any one got another suggestion before they both end up at the vet with injuries?

Terry we had two cats that did this, they have to sort out who's boss, it's pretty normal behaviour. They might get along in time, but perhaps not. I don't think there's anything you can do really.

Hmm. Have you tried timing them out or taking away priviliges--oops, sorry. That's the Supernanny method. Shows you what I know about cats. :( Good luck, Terry!

Dear Terry, we have two male cats, one was introduced after the other. They used to get on ok until we moved to the city with a smaller yard and then started bickering more. We have since become more diligent at making sure each cat has somewhere of their own to eat and sleep, take them for walks at night, lots of food, brushing and separate playtime for each one eg while one is asleep. I can now stop their fighting with voice command but it only works if I am in the room with them, water spray sometimes works but really they both just need loads of reassurance that they are number one. It tough work being a cat slave! Goodluck.

I should add that since we started doing all this, things are much better between them, with only an occasional blowup, they even groom each other now.
