Exttremely bad news for Glastonbury-ers

"U2 have been forced to pull their highly anticipated Friday night headlining slot at this year's Glastonbury festival after singer Bono personally called organiser Michael Eavis to tell him that his back problems would prevent the band from playing.
A statement from Bono on the Glastonbury website read, "I'm heartbroken. We really wanted to be there to do something really special -- we even wrote a song especially for the festival."
Michael Eavis said, "It was obvious from our telephone conversation that U2 are hugely disappointed. Clearly, they were looking forward to playing the Pyramid Stage as much as we were looking forward to watching them. At this point, we have no comment to make about possible replacements for U2's Friday night slot. Instead, we would simply like to send Bono our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery."
The superstars have also been forced to postpone their US and Canadian tour after Bono had back surgery and will spend the next two months recuperating.
Speculation has already started as to who might replace the Irish mega group. Asked by Lauren Laverne on her 6 Music show on Tuesday, May 25, if Led Zeppelin would ever reform again for a special event or festival, the band's guitarist Jimmy Page replied enigmatically, "I wouldn't necessarily rule anything out."
A new headliner is expected to be announced in the next few weeks if not sooner.
The Glastonbury Festival will be held June 25 - 27 at Worthy Farm in Somerset. The other headliners are Muse and Stevie Wonder."
Poor Bono!! Do you think he needs his back rubbing? I'm the girl to do it!!

I thought about you, Anne, as soon as the story broke. I don't think there's anything more miserable that having your back go kaput on you. I'm prone towards spasms when I'm under stress. No fun at all. |

Anne, leaving aside the music, I'll tell you what I think of Bono.
I think the easiest way to explain it is that I lump him together with Sting and Bob Geldof. |

Having been his number one fan for well over a quarter of a century (gasp - is it really that long? Where has the time gone!!), I don't see him like that.
I don't think he should be mocked for caring, though - and neither should Sting or Bob for that matter. |

Hey I can play the guitar and sing, and....I'm free on June 25th, 26th and 27th.
he he he.
I wouldn't charge half as much as U2, Geldof or Bono.
I like Geldof, a bit scruffy, but nothing that a good bath wouldn't cure. |

Anne, it's fine to like his music but always remember that his motive for his spouting is record sales.
Did you ever see that interview with Jeremy Paxman and Sting ? Old Paxo shot down that phony git. |

My sympathies go out to Bono in his present predicament. He need to watch his back. |

Here is the interview Anne et al. If you can't be bothered watching the whole almost 10 minutes, go to 4 and a half minutes or the really good stuff is at about 7:20 minutes.
I'd love to see old Paxo grill your hero Bono.

John, I watched the whole thing and I must say that at least he's reducing his carbon footprint and following in Geldof's steps by forgoing a shower. Maybe he could donate his beard to provide thatch for a rain forest home?
Even Dustin the turkey knows Geldof needs a shower!

I've probably paid more tax in two short visits to Ireland than what Bono has paid there. |
