It's quite distressing, if not 'set up'.

Awful in fact. I wonder what his life expectancy will be !!

:(

I quit smoking 6 years ago and no one offered me a car. It is so sad that advertising is fierce in poor countries. remember the big hullaballoo about coke a cola in some African nation?

Surely that story can't be true ? Kids shouldn't be allowed to smoke until they're at least five years old.

Maybe he has one of those toy cigarettes that actually puff out fine powder (or soemthing) and it looks like smoke, and then they have computer enhanced it? They were about when I was a kid.

Talking of that, does anyone remember chewing gum cigarettes? They were the same shape as a fag, and covered with white paper like a cigarette so they looked really authentic (to a kid anyway!). Once you'd played at being a smoker you unwrapped it and had the gum!!

I loved them. I am sure they were probably outlawed years ago.

Anyway - back to the kid - I am hoping against hope that it IS a fake as it is awful if it is real!!

Well, the father said he wasn't worried about his health!

(unintelligible spluttering) Well, one of my former coworkers had a 6 y.o. client suffering from full blown alcoholism. His family gave him beer in his baby bottle to make him sleep. :(

Loretto, I toss confetti in your honor. Tobacco is the WORST to get off of.

Anne, did your candy cigs have the little smudge of what was supposed to be lipstick on them? The ones I had did.

Re: Words fail me by Spursfan on 26 May 2010 8:28pm

They weren't the candy ones Fran - totally different (sticks of white candy with red ends (the lit end!) in a small box usually with a picture card enclosed).

No, these were chewing gum - not bubblegum, chewing gum. No one has EVER heard of them!! Even the husband - who DOES however remember the one with powder I mentioned above.

However, no - I can't remember any lipstick!!

:)

I remember them Anne. * says John as he lights his one millionth real ciggie.*

We had those lolly ciggies here, they were called Fags and when smoking became not the thing to do anymore, they were changed to Fads and the red bit on the end was removed.
Smoking here is becoming harder and harder, they've just risen in price again, about $18 per pack, and it's going to be passed that you're not allowed to smoke in the open, apart from your own garden. Suits me, I'm sick of walking down the street with Ava and having people blow clouds of smoke all over her (and me). It's now illegal here to smoke in a car with kids in it. Fantastic.
