Mind bogglingly stupid little boy!! by Spursfan on 27 May 2010 5:15pm

Climbing an escalator (on the outside)!! Very very lucky little Turkish boy.

I just cannot go DOWN an escalator(though I have been from top to bottom on the Hsrrods ones!)!! I was put off as a teenager on my trips to London (alone) when I went from Euston Railway Staion down to the underground and it seemed so far down!!! After the first time I used to go out of the station and along to Euston Square which didn't have an escalator. When living in North London we would to the nearest tube station with a lift!!

Sorry it seems an horrendously long link!! You may have to cut and paste it.

Unfortunately, this boy is not an isolated case. When i worked in cinmas I was forever telling kids off for climbing up the escalators backwards or trying to do what this little fella did. All I got for the most part was either a torrent of abuse from the kids or from their parents telling me to butt out. So, i stopped caring, turned a blind eye and let the managers take the grief. And if a parent came to me and told me little johnny got hurt by being stupid I told them it served him right.

Escalators are built for safety of users and are merely a moving staircase.
It is more difficult to negotiate a steep flight of non-moving stairs,or to negotiate crossing a river by way of a swaying rope bridge:
