They think it's all over! Oh, hang on! No, it isn't!! by TERRY S on 24 June 2010 12:58am

Any tennis fans in Palinite land have an opinion on the longest tennis match ever that is STILL GOING after three (yes; you read it right) days? Fantastic or what!? I thought it was quite funny. I haven't watched it all. Don and I just turned at 8pm (BST) for Today at Wimbeldon and this weird event was going on, and the match was so amazing, that they cancelled TaW (that's not a complaint, BTW), and kept on covering this. By 9pm, the French player had the guts to say that enough was enough, and they suspended it until tomorrow. Wild or what!?

I watched some of it Terry, in between the football which has taken me over ! They came off court at 59-59 in the final set which in itself had lasted over 7 hours ! They were still playing good tennis anytime I switched over. Footballers could learn from these guys.

Has it resumed again yet?

Total match time so far is over 10 hours. Both of them (Isner (USA) and Mahut (France)) today will probably have stiffness and tiredness problems after such a long session so it could go on for a white yet when it resumes today on court 18 after 2 other singles matches. I wonder if a gentleman's agreement could be used and one of them could concede to the other, by the toss of a coin?

Isner ( USA ) won the match 70-68 in the final set, after 11 hours 5 minutes of play spread over three days !

I will never believe any 2 honest competitors would do this. It's simply impossible, IMO. 18-16, maybe, but this is a couple of minor talents getting "face time". No thank you.

Are you saying they faked it? That's an interesting idea. Please continue, George.

Well they should win an Oscar for acting. I watched some of that match and those two guys gave it their all.
