New Series? Brazil? by TheShrubberer on 28 June 2010 2:06pm
New member, lifelong fan here. I was inspired to join this site today because I just watched CNN.com interview with Mike, where he mentioned that he plans to do a new series, and one of the places he hopes to visit would be Brazil. I am an American expat, living in Brazil and I think that is a great idea. Brazil is really an astonishing place.

Are there any public details about the new series? Timelines and such?

p.s. - Not sure, if there is any way to contact the appropriate parties, but if they need an english speaking local who has lots of connections on the ground here in Brazil, I would love to chip in any small way to the Brazil episode(s).

Patty: Before jtm gets a chance to chime in,I should perhaps pre-empt his comment and confirm that <TheShrubberer>(!) is definitely not another of my many aliases....period.

I can also confirm--for anyone who has never been there--that Brazil is indeed an amazing place to visit. They play football on the beach, and build sand castles on the school playing-fields.

I'm really excited about this. I'm planning on visiting Brazil myself for the world cup in 4 years time!

Hello, TheShrubberer! Nice to know another local resident around here. And paulandrewparker, don`t wait till the World Cup to come! May I suggest few days at our northeast area (sun, beaches, music, dance drinks, seafood...) and some in the Minas Gerais area?

Nestorp it's going to take me 4 years to save up!!!

My plan is to go to Buenos Aires, then onto Montevideo and then into Brazil for the football.

I was recently inspired by a large group from the Netherlands who drove in a caravan all the way to South Africa for the World Cup. I believe they took in 16 countries. Alas, they can't stay for the final as they had booked passage for all their cars on a freighter a few days ago to go home. As for me, a newcomer to soccer, I think it would be great fun to drive down to Brazil from the US for the next WC. I'm sure there will be many doing this.

I have a friend who did the opposite (riding a motorbike from Brazil to the USA) it is a beautifull trip. I did only the southern part of the transamericana road and it is beautifull enough.

Thanks for the encouragement. Fortunately, we have lots of time to plan such a trip. At my age, I probably don't have many journeys like this left. I used to love our "odysseys" through Mexico. We had lots of memorable experiences and somehow got back alive and relatively unscarred.
