Airline Recommendations

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any airline reviews, both positive and negative. I'm looking at a flight from Sydney to London on Malaysian, but thoughts on any others would be great too.
Thanks!

Hi Smitty,
Although I havn't flown to or from Australia...yet!, I have flown with Malaysian Airlines on several occasions and have found them excellent. If you book in early enough you maybe able to get a seat by the exit door which will offer more leg room and space.
Virgin also offer a great service.
Happy landings!!

I am am flying a round trip from London to sydney return in june and my prime concern at the moment was trying to avoid any SARS hot spots, for that reason I am flying Air New Zealand, which does mean a very long flight going London, L A, Auckland and Sydney. This may be a consideration for you, but it largely depends on when you intend to fly really. Hopefully Sars will not cuase flying restrictions in the long term ?
I hear Air NZ has excellent service and food, but as I have not been on the flight yet, I cannot comment in more detail. |

I fly to London in 5 days from Chicago via Toronto. There is only a travel alert there for SARS and the CDC recommends frequent hand washing and avoidance of medical facilities. I am not afraid of going through Toronto however I was terrified of the tornado that went through my yard last night. I'll take my chances. LOL |

Hi Smitty,
I flew Malaysian Airlines 2 years ago from Melbourne to KL - the service was great and I found the seats very comfortable with plenty of leg room. A hint though, get your travel agent to book one of the seats at the back of the plane. The last 3 rows generally have a 2-4-2 configuration, the plane sides are tapering there and as well as only 2 seats on the side, there is extra leg/shoulder room as well. Enjoy.

Air Canada was FAB. There seemed to be more leg room, the staff was very courteous, and they never stopped serving food, drinks, snacks all the way from Toronto to London. It was very clean also. Amongst the staff there were 5 languages spoken. Incidently, they did book me onto a non-existant flight on the way home stranding me in Ottawa Canada for the night, but they paid for my room at a posh hotel, and paid for my dinner, breakfast and airport transfers. |

Whatever you do, always always steer well clear of Air France.
In the past 5 years I've taken 150 flights with various airlines, 3 were with Air France and twice they managed to loose my baggage.
The customer service stinks both on the plane and off.
Highly recommended you STAY AWAY!
