It's. . . rodeo season! by mp_addict19 on 9 July 2010 10:01pm

Tis the season for rodeos to start. The goat tying, the saddle bronc, bareback riding, the barrel racing, scoop shovel racing, and of course the most popluar (and really dangerous) part of rodeos: bull riding. If you happen to go on holiday around the midwest or west coast, check out a rodeo. I guarantee you'll have fun watching them. Or you could just watch PBR bull riding on VS. channel.

Does Calgary in Canada still have a rodeo - I think it was called The Calgary Stampede?

Yes Ken, they do.

I have a large number of relatives who live in and around Calgary (an aunt and uncle and their respective families emigrated in 1920).

We have never visited - but other members of the UK family have and the Canadians have been over here more or less every year (my aunt was still travelling back and forth in her mid-90s!).

Most of my relatives live in a place called Red Deer.

According to this link, this year the Stampede is on from 9-18 July.
