Jail for being tone deaf!?

Anyone think this is really really dumb!? They'd have a real problem with the Star Spangled Banner, which - by concensus - is un-singable anyway. I mean honestly. Could anyone have come up with a stupider law than this. I'm all for respect and national pride, but seriously.....!

I sometimes listen to rock stars and pop stars massacre the American national anthem. We need to allow artistic freedom.
If it matters that much to the people of the Philippines, then it should be written into law. But if the government is saying this is how it should be sung without even letting the general population have a say, well then....thank whoever/whatever that I didn't end up marrying that fella I dated whilst living in London in the early 90's. I'd be in the Philippines right now worrying about my pitch, tone and beat whilst singing the national anthem.
Hey, what if you are at a football match and you sing out of key? |

They should play that version at the start of all football games and when US athletes win the gold at the olympics :-)

I won't disagree with you Loretto!
[The husband and I were both Jimi fans; Zak used to say that when he (Zak) died he wanted to become a note of Jimi's music. Very profound. By complete coincidence, Zak was walking by when they took Jimi's body out to the ambulance (he realised who it was later that day when watching TV). We've watched a couple of programmes on Jimi recently, because of the anniversary of his death - and I have to admit to shedding a few tears.] |

"Star Spangled Banner" was based on a drinking song. You'd have to be pretty plowed to hit some of those notes in many cases.
Yes. Jimi's version is the ultimate. Pity that his life ended as it did. |

Yeah, very sad.
To be honest, I don't think you could even sing the SSB when you're totally drunk. It's a nice song, but no-one even legless can sing it. |
