PALIN NEWSLETTER 2011

Now then. I'm not giving up on bringing you the news, want them or not.
-----
First news is quite serious and sad, unfortunately. Although, 5.8% fare raise in many years is not a lot. Anyway, your new government makes some very stupid things it seems.

Brilliant actor Pete Postlethwaite died of cancer yesterday. Very sad. He was great in A Private Function (and many other films).

I loved the character he played on the Shipping News and who could forget those fantastic cheekbones ? What a great and humble person. RIP |

Yes, the rise in rail fares is disgusting.
Sad about Pete Postlethwaite. |

I think Pete Postlethwaite's finest hour was in 'Brassed Off'. |

OMG. I can't keep quiet. They publish two MP's travel books in Russia, in Russian. "80 Days" and "Hemingway's Adventure".
There are some snippets from the translation on the site of the publishers, and by the look of them, translation is rather... erm, shall I say, loose. Somehow the word "whores" are there - the word which Mr P. wouldn't use and does not use in 80 Days... but it's there, in the translation. I'm sh_t-scared what the whole result looks like. I don't have much hopes, high or even low.
This frigging country can't do anything properly... even translate an effing travel book. They should have asked me. |

Oh dear! Maybe some words are hard to translate but I am sure you would have done a better job! I think you ought to write to the publishers and tell them about the translation! |

I definitely will, Sue! It won't make any difference, but I have to do it. |
