Sadly one of the great rock guitar heroes, GARY MOORE, has been found dead, aged 58, in a hotel room on the Costa del Sol, southern Spain.
He was born and brought up in Belfast, Northern Ireland in the Newtownards Road area and began playing guitar at age 8.
He joined Irish group SKID ROW,which also had PHIL LYNOTT as guitarist/vocalist. Lynott later recruited Moore to join his new band THIN LIZZY. Phil Lynott died in 1986.
Ex-THIN LIZZY members Eric Bell (guitarist) Scott Gorham (guitarist) and Brian Downey (drummer) all remembered Gary Moore with fondness. Irishman Bob Geldof of The Boomtown Rats was one of the first to pay tribute to his life, career and music.
He was a most adept musician, fluent in jazz, blues and hard rock. Two of his outstanding solos were on: Still Got The Blues For You,and Parisienne Walkways.
