Sure is Terri, can't remember another time when there were so many natural disasters so close to one another.

Biologists are a bit baffled as to why 107 huge Pilot Whales beached themselves and died on an NZ beach, only 48 hours before the quake struck.
They correlate this phenomenon with the 2004 'quake/tsunami,when, before the 'quake struck in the Indian Ocean, 170 Pilot whales beached themselves, in Australia and New Zealand.
There may be no relation between the two events, but you have to wonder.

Euro news says 113 lives taken because of the quake, possibly that number will rise. The footage on TV that I saw today looked like a war zone. Someone told me there is a bit of controversy over the inability of newer buildings in Christ Church to withstand the quake? Anyone else hear that?

There sure have been a lot of natural disasters in that part of the world. Let's hope that's it for a long, long time now.

I live in NZ and this is by all accounts is an aftershock from the September 7.1 earthquake. It seems that unfortunately a lot of tourists and travellers where also caught up in it.

I'm still totally stunned by this news.. these days with the internet these kind of things are much more up close and personal, even when on the other side of the world..

My thoughts are with our friends in the Palin community in NZ and their countrymen. Our community was hit by flooding this year, but the destruction was nothing in comparison. Be safe and look after each other.
