Greetings from East Yorkshire

Hi all!
I'm "new" to the site, although I was pretty sure I'd registered and introduced myself years ago when I first found my way here, but my email addresses arent ringing any bells with the logins HQ, and my memory is terrible at best.
I must have done a good amount of lurking 5 or 6 years ago, as I loved reading about everyones travel experiences whilst I was planning an around-the-world trip, which sadly reduced itself to just 3 months on the road in N. America. I managed to spend more time in the USA over the following 2 years, but have done very little international travel since 2007.
The travel bug has now hit me harder than ever, and so once again I plan/hope to do some major travelling this year. I've been reacquainting myself with Michael's travel series' to keep me in the mood and provide ideas, which in turn reminded me of this site.
Hope everyones doing well, and hope to share some travel chat sometime soon.
All the best!

Welcome Back; or Welcome Home! (Peters and Lee)
I'd be interested to heard some details about your road trip in the USA.
Michael Palin is a Yorkshireman, too, but of course you knew that. True grit, and all that.
I'm also a fan of Freddie Trueman, the world's greatest-ever fast bowler. |

Hi Neil. I joined this site at Christmas. There isn't a lot of talk about Mr. Palin but it seems friendly. I think that Ken Dunn is the guy who runs the site, as he was the one who informed me how things work here. |

bIG, I'm afraid I've been reduced to a rather sparse account of my USA roadtrip (just basic route/detinations now I'm afraid) as it is getting late.
NYC, Boston, White Mountains, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Buffalo, Washington, Philly
Orlando, Miami, Key West
LA, Vegas, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, San Diego, Hwy 1 to San Francisco, Reno, Yosemite, LA
Dallas, Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta, Mobile, New Orleans, Austin, San Antonio, Houston
The following year I stayed with friends in Vancouver, then travelled south via Seattle, Boise, Salt Lake City, Vegas, Death Valley, LA, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle (again). |

Thanks for the welcome Sue.
My original aim was Estonia to Moscow, then trans-siberian railway across to Vladivostok. From there to Japan, S. Korea, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia and finally Thailand.
I've had to rethink my plans this week, after the terrible crisis in Japan. I'm also considering Mongolia too, as travel out of Vladivostok may be a little too limited. |
