Halloween Cancelled by Loretto on 31 October 2011 8:56pm

It is unusual to see snow on the ground and leaves changing color on the trees. Even more unusual; towns cancelling Halloween, like ours did.

No kids came trick or treating to our house this year which is unusual, we bought a bag of candy especially, but no-one turned up, maybe they cancelled it here, too and nobody told us!

My son ended up being invited to a private association with 120 houses and had a great Halloween.

I did this video yesterday as we were driving home after getting his costume, V for Vendetta.

9 deaths have been reported due to the early nor'easter. Connecticut still has 736,000 homes without power. It is the third most tree populous state in the US. CT was not naturally forested, and the trees that were planted here are now nearing the end of their life span. So, just a lethal combination of a previous tropical storm to weaken limbs, an early snowfall to cause massive destruction and older trees.

It's weird seeing autumn leaves and snow together. You have certainly been getting some freaky weather out there recently. It looks beautiful around there though.

No trick or treaters came to my door either. I get home late so probably missed them. The sweets and chocolate are still in the cupboard. Oh well, I will have to eat them myself. What a hardship! LOL

We didn't have Trick or Treaters either. Split the candy between the apartment association office and my work.
In the Northeastern United States, nature certainly played a trick.

Residents in Ridgefield CT, just 15 minutes away from us, were returned to power only today after 10 days without power.

I was on the treadmill yesterday and the power went out, again! So I took my iphone and went for a walk outside.

Here are some pictures I took of trees strangling electricity wires along our road. Even though these were supposed to be cut back and cleaned up last year, they are still left untouched and remain the reason why we have lost power so often in the last 9 weeks.

Take a look here:

Loretto, those wires are so low! Beautiful blue sky though!
