Can't wait to buy the new book and to watch the new series.

I'm looking forward to it also. I remember studying Brazil as part of geography class and found it interesting, so will be nice to see how things are now. Although it wasn't my favourite part of the world to look at, I am sure the Palin touch will make it even more so.

Thanks for telling us JanW. Just watched it and I doubt the US audience will get to see the programme debut by October 24, hopefully the PBS stations will get their hands on it and have it on the air ASAP.

Good luck to all involved with it. Hope it is as successful as all the other travel documentaries by Michael Palin et al! Alwighty then!

The sooner it airs in UK, the sooner PBS will have it. I will get the book first.

I just watched a 15 minute interview with Michael on The Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy. Tubridy replaced Gay Byrne as the host many years ago and is a far better interviewer than Byrne. The link to the show is available for 19 days and the interview was on Nov. 23rd.

Tubridy asks Michael the same question that I wanted to ask him, raised my hand, Michael pointed at me and then the interviewer picked someone else, back on May 25 2011 at the Dublin Writer's festival, and here is the question I wanted to ask:
"Is political correctness a hindrance or a help to comedy and comedians?"

Michael's answer to Tubridy was it is bad for comedy, "If you can laugh at it, it diffuses the agony."

Tubridy also mentions that The Life of Brian was banned in Ireland until 1979. "The priests wouldn't allow us to laugh at it." Isn't that the truth?

Anway, here's the clip, it's the first 15 minutes. You'll see a picture of Michael on the right, click it and it will take you to the interview. I like Tubridy's interviewiing style, very easy and casual.

Thanks, Loretto. Couldn't get it to work on my computer at work. Maybe it will work at home.
