Our town did a fireworks display last night. I couldn't help but think though, they've had massive budget cuts in our town, and others. These fireworks cost a lot of money, wouldn't the money have been better spent in education? It probably cost one teacher's whole salary for a year to put on the firework display. We could see the fireworks in the next town off in the distance.

I like fireworks at about 7 or 8 pm, not 11 or so when it gets dark. I'm assuming our city wasted money on fireworks again this year. I wouldn't know, I was asleep.

We had a similar tragedy on Christmas eve in the town of Stamford. 3 children and their grandparents perished in a house fire. The fire Marshall said the boyfriend of the woman who owned the house, and was the mother of the three girls, put burning embers in a box which caused the fire. Sad news.

It's amazing what people can cope with Loretto. I seen a guy I know a couple of days ago in our town centre and mentioned him to Meg. This man ( Scott, who is 6' 7" !) lost four sons in a house fire about ten years ago. I don't know him that well but I spent one of my drinking nights in his home and how this man(he's early forties) stays sane and very human, is humbling.

Thank you. We had a cookout, I slept through the fireworks downtown.
