Losing 6 kilos in 6 weeks by ev on 3 September 2012 10:34am

I'll let you know in 6 weeks how it went.

Body weight is actually a poor indicator of health and fitness. But a few years ago I was 6 kilos lighter and much fitter, so it's a fair goal. To achieve that in 6 weeks will require almost completely (but gradually over the first 2 weeks) cutting back on sugary and fatty foods, and plenty of walking out in the forest.

Diet mainstays will be oats, rice, veggies, fruits and nuts, with a little bit of dairy products and fish sometimes.

When I was fit I sometimes found that I could lose 4 kilos in a day after a long mountain hike or a marathon.

In the last 8 days, I've consumed a roll with scrambled egg last Monday, a few bites of fish and chips on Wednesday and nothing since. I've smoked about 80 cigs a day and been topped up with vodka. I'm ....ing amazing.Head feels reasonably ok and I'm in no pain. My old cat has been slowling starving himself to death and maybe I'm trying to beat him. I hate to lose.

Eating the cigarettes would probably be healthier for you.

Or:
1. Instead of smoking cigarettes, buy a water pipe to smoke the tobacco through.
2. Instead of drinking the vodka, put it in the water pipe to filter the tobacco smoke.

No, actually don't do any of those things, they're all dangerous, if you care.

John, I challenge you to abstain from cigarettes and alcohol for 40 days, and also go for a walk each day, preferably somewhere green and in the opposite direction from the alcohol shop.

Are you up for it?
