Andy Murray in Dunblane today. by Ken Dunn on 16 September 2012 5:08pm

In yesterday's daily newspaper I saw an item that said Andy Murray would be visiting his home town of Dunblane in Scotland and doing a tour through it to meet his fans. We decided to go and just after 10am this morning set off for Dunblane, about an hour drive from where we live.
We arrived heading into Dunblane from the south but decided access was going to be difficult because of the queue of cars so drove on round to access from the north where we got fairly easy access to park up by the health centre.
After a quick reconnoitre we decided that, because my wife's mobility is not good, I should walk into the town myself to see Andy. This I did and got a good spot in the centre of the town where there were already hundreds, if not thousands of people already waiting for the great sportsman to appear. During the wait I found out that Andy was doing the tour through the town by walking the street to meet his fans and sign autographs. He started his walk at midday and was signing lots of autographs so it would be a long wait before he appeared where I was. Also during the wait it rained very heavily for a while and a very kind lady let me use her umbrella to shelter.
The rain stopped and Andy eventually appeared after I had been waiting two and a half hours. He was signing autographs on both sides of the street and I got some photographs but because of the throng a really good photograph was difficult (it was at least three deep where I was standing and I was at the back behind the flags and clamour).
I didn't rush to leave and was fortunate to get photographs of his family who were following him on the walk and i am especially pleased with a photo of his mum, Judy, who stopped to sign an autograph right in front of me.
I'm now going to upload the photos into the computer and will report back on any additional information captured on them.
~
I've got six good photographs. One of fans with flags standing drookit in the rain; three of Andy signing autographs and meeting his fans; one of Andy's mum signing an autograph and one of his grandfather.

drookit - Scots: very wet, soaked.

Great, Ken! I also hope we will be able to see your photos some time.

I love that word "drookit".
