Good stuff, Ken. Have fun but remember that wee Sheila isn't 21 and would maybe just like to enjoy the scenery. ;)

She'd rather go shopping but I think Lisbon will fit the bill there.

We got back home yesterday after an 11h20m drive from Stubbington near Southampton. After getting unpacked and settled I went to bed an slept for 12 hours!

The cruise was brilliant. We were on the P&O Oceana and left from Southampton on Monday 12th November.
Throughout the cruise the weather wasn't perfect, not expected for November, but we still managed to do shore excursions in 4 of the 5 ports. We didn't dock in Oporto because of strong winds but had lovely visits to Lisbon and Estoril, Cadiz and Andalusia, Casablanca and finally Gibraltar. These excursions were in the morning and in the afternoon there was opportunity to go ashore for further exploration on your own. I went back ashore in Casablanca and we both went ashore in Gibraltar.
All the towns were very interesting and our tour guides were very knowledgeable and entertaining. In Gibraltar we stopped for afternoon tea and it was the best cream tea I have ever had. Finger sandwiches, hot scones with cream and jam, and cakes with coffee or tea.
Ashore after the excursion in Casablanca I walked the souvenir shops and bought a camel (small wooden one) among other trinkets and a pair of Moroccasins (this is my name for the footwear) and bought a postcard and stamp to continue my postcard project.
The postcard project relates to my collection of cards of mountains and mountaineering and my wish was to send myself (a bit vain I know) a postcard with mountains on from each of the ports we visited. I could relate the details of how I achieved this but that would take too much space. The card from Casablanca is the only one not to have arrived home yet.
It rained some of the time in all the ports except Cadiz and although this dampened things a bit the temperature was in double figures all the time, 15 deg. C was the average. I took shorts to wear and the weather was never warm enough for me to wear them so my jeans did most of the leg work!
I have been asked a couple times what the highlights were on the holiday and for me it was the meals on board the Oceana. You could dine 4 times a day: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. To begin with we only took three of the meals, missing lunch or tea, but towards the end of the cruise I managed to have all 4 meals on 3 occasions. It was waiter service and at one time I counted 26 waiters visible serving in the dining area. There were 108 chefs on board covering the main restaurants and other snack and cafeteria areas. The quality of the food on board was excellent. There was a great choice of courses and I had lobster and pheasant at two sittings. I also tried some items I didn't know and one of these turned out to be a piece of chocolate cake signed by the chef. My wife had a meringue swan once.
On most of the excursions we stopped for a refreshment at a restaurant. Away from Cadiz it was at a lovely seaside village which was enjoying sunny but windy weather. In Casablanca it was in a hotel for a Morrocan mint tea. There was a scenic view from the large windows in this restaurant. In Gibraltar there was a lovely view out over a bay from the hotel where we had our cream tea.
The entertainment onboard was excellent. There was always something going on, from shipboard games to talks and concerts. For example, John Regis gave a talk on his athletics career; deck quoits could be played and some of the crew gave a superb talent show.

It was a great holiday and I would definitely do it again. Giving superb value for money I brought back some unspent cash. I could go into more general detail but instead will answer any questions you may have.

A great post, Ken. Thank you for sharing that with us and I'm glad that you and 'wee Sheila' had a nice time. :)
