The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Birthday gift from Michael by BrentEades on 25 August 2013 11:27pm
So my daughter Rachel (same name as Michael's daughter, by coincidence) had the good fortune to accompany him on a recent trip across Canada. where he was receiving a Gold Medal from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (my daughter's employer.)

Anyway -- Rachel reports that Michael was exactly what you would expect: charming, thoughtful and very, very funny.

She asked him if he would sign a copy of his book, "Diaries 1969-1979: The Python Years", for me as a birthday gift, mentioning that I thought the Biggus Dickus scene in "Life of Brian" is about the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life.

Michael signed the book with an amusing and personalized paragraph, and it's now my most prized possession :)

Michael Palin is a class act, to say the least. I hope there are many more travel series to come!

This seemed like an appropriate topic to post the following information. Today is my birthday (66!) and a while ago my wife asked for suggestions for a present. I got them today - Dr Fegg's Encyclopaedia of All World Knowledge and Mr P's book of Limericks. Having read a few pages of each it looks as though I'll be laughing until Christmas!
