The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Junk Leaflets by Ken Dunn on 19 October 2013 12:43pm
LT touched on this, quite amiably I must add, in the Internet Trash topic and I feel this one is worth a mention.
We buy the Scottish Daily Mail newspaper some Saturdays and when I bought today's I thought it was quite heavy so assumed there was more news to read in the paper. On opening the cellophaned TV magazine that comes with it there were some leaflets and when I had finished checking with my wife that we didn't want any of the leaflets I opened the paper to find some more!
A summary of the leaflets and what they want me to but is as follows:
1) BookPeople - cheap books.
2) dfs - Christmas furniture (I haven't noticed their TV adverts yet!).
3) John Lewis - Home and Pet Insurance.
4) sky - half price broadband (there were 4 copies of the same leaflet!)
5) Euronics - Electrical appliances.
6) The Original Gift Company - a mixture of stuff including a 'Grumpy Old Man' mug. I would consider this but why at £12.95 when there are £5 mugs in the shops?
7) Kaleidoscope - women's clothes mainly.
8) ToysRUs - Christmas toys. I'm past the age for this stuff.

The whole lot is in our paper heap for recycling!

We get two 'free' papers delivered twice a week. They are all piles of ads and I rarely open them. They sit in boxes beside my woodstoves to be recycled...as fire and heat. I cancel them in the spring for a few months so the piles don't get too large.
