Firstly, no one ever stole Christmas from me. I'm a great traditionalist and enjoy that time of year, mainly because I get a week an a half off work.
The link works and I think that if you earn 20% more than you actually need the the first idea in the link is a good one.

From what I understand a lot of people go into a spending overdrive, maxing out their credit cards and causing themselves a lot of damage around Christmas time.

I too appreciate the traditions of gift giving and the Christmas spirit. For example, I know one family that reuses Christmas wrapping paper each year, rather than buy new rolls, although I find that a bit extreme. But their kids already have every toy and gadget they could possibly need, so the parents are against spending a lot on presents.

The idea of giving to charity rather than spending lots on expensive presents is good, I think.
