MP rowing with Ann Widdecombe?! by Louise on 5 December 2003 7:41pm
Olympic rowing champions Sir Steven Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent are
to train a group of celebs for a BBC Boat Race reality series.

Eighteen famous Oxbridge graduates will undergo gruelling training
for six weeks by the duo before they take to the Thames to to race
against each other in March.

A BBC spokesman said: "Filming is expected to begin in January with
the series running on BBC3 and a 90-minute special on Boat Race day."

The spokesman refused to reveal the celebrities lined up to compete.
However, Broadcast magazine says they are thought to be headed by
Tory ex-minister Ann Widdecombe, who went to Oxford and who took part
in ITV1's Celebrity Fit Club.

The magazine adds that talks are going on with Jeremy Paxman and
Richard Whiteley, who went to Cambridge, and Michael Palin and Timmy
Mallet, who attended Oxford.
