Can't decide.... by kelley on 23 November 2002 9:28pm
Ok guys i need some advice. I've just finished reading Sahara (absolutely fantastic book, was very touched by the bit about michael and his wife dreaming the same thing).

Anyway After many years of abstaining i've finally bought the 80 days, pole to pole and hemingways adventure books to accompany my videos.

so the advice i neeed is ..
which should i read first, i really can't decide!!

i've just joined the group a few weeks ago but not sure about this cream bun thing you all have going :-)

lol kelley

Hey, kelley!
i was abit silly, and read full circle first. haven't read 80 days, or pole to pole, so read them first and tell me if they're any good, you lucky peep! i'm not jealous, i'm not!!
I'm in the middle of reading hemingway's adventure, it is very good. i say read the one where he looks fittest, it up to you!
Do you not like cream on your buns either? join me, and together we will find nice buns without cream, so we can still join the party, LOL
bye, luv little-peep

Hi :) Why don't you read in order when he did his travels? Like "80 Days", then "Pole to Pole" etc, I don't know why, it'd just make more sense to me, just incase he refers to any last travels he made, or etc. You'll have a great time reading them! Enjoy!

I agree with nottlob, read them in the order they were published.

This reminds me...

I've got my own question I've been debating for awhile now.

Being that I'm still in the process of seeing all of Michael's travel shows and books, and the library has both forms...should I watch the series first, and then read the corresponding book, or vice versa?

I watched the series first and then read the book. It worked perfectly for me that way, so I recommend it.

Yeah, I agree with Dianne, except for "80 Days", I think because he was in such a hurry and under so much determination, if I had a choice, I would've read the book first before seeing the series because when I was reading the book, I already knew what happened so I was a bit rushing through the parts where Michael was on a dhow or train because he wasn't doing much. But I'm still not sure...I know I'm not making much sense right now, lol.

I was glad to read 80 days first before watching it. (It's the only one that I have seen in it's entirety) It just helped me out alot when it came to the general understanding of the series. But that's just me :)

80 Days is next up on my to watch/to read list...

I think I'm going to HAVE to watch it first because I reserved it specially from a library out of town and I can only keep the thing for the week. So unless I do some speed reading this Thanksgiving weekend... ;O)

Thanks for the advice, I think maybe I'll read Hemingways adventure first cause thats the only series that i haven't seen on video yet (hopefully santa will be bringing me that :-) ). Has anyone read Hemingways chair? just bought that one ebay as well - i suppose i don't even need to ask is it good because obviously its fantastic!!

little-peep, we can be outcasts together until we find non-cream cream buns. Have you seen Brazil the film? thats where he looks the fittest ;-)
