The Chatter Box : Blathering On
a bit miffed... by sminobe on 23 December 2003 11:41pm
Went to see Eric at the Henry Ford Theater in Hollywood last Friday (final show of the Greedy Bastard Tour). Great show, but the b*****d didn't meet the fans or sign autographs afterwards! The whole tour, he stopped to meet fans, but not in his Home Town (albeit adopted) of LA. My 12-yr old daughter was a bit disappointed -- she wore a Gumby knotted hankie just for the occasion & made some origami guitars out of $$ for his Encore Bucket.

I even lugged the cumbersome "Pythons" book in the hopes of getting him to sign it.

Maybe this proves that Eric is a 'Greedy Bastard'!! he's taken the money and ran!!
I've not seen Eric Idle on tele over here (UK) for ages in anything, but Python repeats. I'm not even sure if he tours Britain. Saying that, People change..John Cleese has become a real moaner recently. He's made a fortune in the UK from the obvious and his not so obvious 'Training Video' company, which has been a big success. Is this good enough, nope..He whingers on about the UK 'not appreciating his talent' and claims to be leaving the Country for good, shame. Maybe he does not realise comedy has moved on..
Michael Palin I salute you for moving on, being a down to earth bloke, and still *ruddy funny!!

Regards to all.
* Ruddy, saying stolen from the brilliant Steve Coogan's 'Alan AHA Partridge' character..Sorry John, with People like Coogan about, you're going to have to work hard if you still want to work in comedy!!

John Cleese has got himself stuck in a typecast. Appearing in such movies as the Harry potter films. Playing the same old type of character. Nothing new. The "Posh speaking Brigadier" type character. He's nowhere near as manic as he was earlier on in life, so he's settled into the same type of role no matter what he does. I think most people are bored of it.
