No useless presents, but as always, the ultra-religious Catholic card from mother-in-law, who knows I'm Jewish, complete with Jesus, Mary and a note that a donation to the Catholic missionaries, who are out converting in the thrid world, has been made in my name. This for 14 years now, every holiday and every birthday. So twice a year, I send even MORE money to Planned Parenthood, with a notation that I want it dedicated to family planning and availability of birth control in the third world, and of course the donation I make to the Simon Weisenthal Center every year in her name on her birthday.

Whether this is all useless per se, I dunno...

anise spelt flour cookies. Who? What? Why?
blech.
I hate anise.
and spelt flour.
But it's the thought that counts. The crows in my backyard loved the little delicacies, though.

Who is anise, did she spill the flour or something ... LOL.

Good to know you feed the birdies!

Anise is a Mediterranean spice which reminds me of licorice, but isn't. I hate it and it gives me migraines anyway. As for "Spelt", I didn't know there was such a word. "Spilled" or "spelled", but spelt????? Maybe in UK, but not in my dictionary! Please tell us what it means.

Well, so far, I haven't received anything too useless. I still have another celebration on Tuesday. Up to now there's only one gift which I really don't want---a CD case. You have to insert the CD's into flimsy sleeves. I like to keep them in the original hard plastic cases. So..... it's going to be returned. Thank goodness my neighbor gave me a return receipt this year!

Patty, I was just joking with wordplay about anise & spelt. Anise flavour is similar to licquorice [UK spelling]. It`s found in the plant fennel, and also in those Chinese 5 spice jars.
