The Chatter Box : Messages from Michael
A week's a long time on a website by Michael Palin on 25 November 2002 1:06pm

On Saturday at 1 o'clock I saw myself ( looking distressingly young) setting off on BBC-2, and Victoria Station, on the journey that led to all the other journeys, Around The World In Eighty Days. Holding up my copy of the Observer for Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam to corroborate the date - September 25th 1988. Fourteen years later, in a new millennium, September 25th was another historic day - the launch of Palinstravels website.
And the excitement and surprise goes on as more and more people are visiting the site from all over the world.
Welcome to you all. It's great to know that so many people from so many countries have come to take a look at our new site.

I'm appearing on radio and TV and in the newspapers and magazines to priomote the book(s) - Sahara by Michael P and Inside Sahara - a book of stunning photos by Basil Pao, and the BBC series which is now only a week away - Episode One, "A Line In The Sand" airs on BBC-1 next Sunday (13th) at 7 in the evening. About time too, the tension is killing me.

Thanks again to all who have visited palinstravels since it started up, the numbers have been a great shock and lovely surprise for me.

So keep coming in.

Michael Palin.
