Look! It's a new fun poll for everyone to enjoy! by Kristine on 26 November 2002 2:39am

Oh, this is a doozy!

Alright here is the poll question. If you had the chance to meet Michael not just at a book signing my friends (oh no no, not as simple as that.) but anywhere you'd want to. Where would it be, why you chose that place and what you would probably talk about? Whether it be about travel, news or all around silly stuff. Try and keep it tasteful know? Never know who's looking...

As for me? Well, I think I would like to meet Michael in a relaxed atmosphere. So, I'm thinking a nice coffee shop. Not the ones that belong to the chains like a Starbucks etc. But the more artsy independently ran ones. Probably sitting in a dim-lighted corner in two separate "Comfy Chairs"with some strong flavored coffee, a tub of ice cream and a slice of cake. (Why not share something sweet with the sweetest explorer around?) We'd pretty much talk about anything that slips of our tongues, though I'd let him do most of the talking, and add me two cents here and there too, I'm not that quiet. And hopefully, ending it off becoming Miss Two Pecks the Second! Hehe. Though that would be completely up to Mr. P. *chuckle* But I would be so happy if I ever got to do something like that with him. Heck, I'd be happy meeting him just about anywhere. But the above was just an ideal meeting pour moi.

Have fun!

Peace and Love
Krissy

I'm not sure...I think I'd rather just meet him at a book signing or on one of his journeys around the world because I wouldn't really like to go up to him and just talk to him, I'd probably feel like intruding him, which I'd probably be doing. You know what I mean...?

Meeting Michael on one of his journeys would be awesome - heck, I'd kill to do some of the things he gets to experience on those trips!

I'm one of those folks who's been fascinated with traveling all her life *because* she's never been able to go anywhere. I get those pangs every once in awhile, when I'm just driving...just to keep driving and just GO somewhere, doesn't matter where. Sometimes it strikes me on a balmy Sunday afternoon at home, when I'm absolutely stuck there. Unfortunately, my car is so old we don't trust it on the highways. And this broke college kid definitely doesn't have the money to go by other form of transportation. And my parents don't seem to have the same wanderlust as me; in fact, they're quite content to stay in town all the time.

I don't know, the world is just such a big new place that I've barely experienced. Seems so exciting to me.

Didn't mean to ramble there, but that's what I've always wanted to do with my life - travel, learn about cultures and history, and try to recreate it with historical novels. (Good luck, hey?)

If I could go anywhere with Michael I'd pick Germany as I think it's a very underated country in comparison to Spain and France. There are many beautiful parts in it like the Black Forest, Bayern, Berlin, Heidelberg, Köln etc. It never gets much of a mention in any series - just occasionaly.
Apart from that I'd let him pick a place he'd really like to go seeing as he's been in so many different countries and cities, he'd know which place would be really cool to go to. Especially that I'm quite young and am more easily impressed with cities and bright lights - I need someone to show me the other kind of natural beauty that exists in many other places in the world.
As for talking - I'd say he'll have to put a gag in my mouth to shut me up asking annoying questions!!!

I'd like to accidentially come across Michael sitting on a bench on the promenade of some dying English sea-side resort in the pouring rain, nobody around, and contemplate life, the universe and everything. I'm sure watching the rain dripping off the end of his nose would be very reassuring!
Is that deep enough?

I`d like to meet him on the train named Michael Palin travelling from London to Scotland. We could discuss mayor Ken Livingstone`s ideas about transport in the capital. Well, he could discuss and I`d nod sagely every so often ...

If I were to meet Michael anywhere other than a booksigning - then it would hopefully be prearranged with his mangement and on an informal but impersonal basis so i wouldnt worry about intruding and I would talk about Michael joining in the chatterbox so that those who cannot get to a booksigning could reply to him. ask him where he would like to go next - I did hear him say today that the BBC hopefully letting him go somewhere else but wasnt giving any clues as to where!

certainly agree with an informal coffee place but I drink tea only - think it would be good to have a cream tea with him without the cream!

Perhaps the best place to meet him would be at a chatterbox convention when it gets going! then we could all talk to him together about wing tips - then I might find out what they are!

one very tired but happy Lyn two pecks

I`d choose an art exhibition for a chat with Mr P. It`s something I vaguely know about so I wouldn`t appear totally stupid haha. Guess we could talk about the two art programmes he made for BBC, `Redpath` and `The Colourists`.
