George Harrison concert by little-peep on 29 November 2002 7:08pm

Just to say that today, a year ago, George Harrison died of cancer.
Today, there is a concert in London for him, with Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney(?),and lots of other famous peeps, and of course, Michael.
Mum and i wanted to go, but couldn't. so, if anyone IS going, please let us know how it went, and if it was good. I'm sure it would make mum feel better.
luv, little-peep xx

I would have loved to have gone and see that concert! The Beatles are one of my fave bands!

I was never a big Beatles fan, but I respected George for his commitment to the things he believed in. Where ever you are man, have a smoke for me. :)

Same here, Kristine.

The Beatles have been one of my favorite bands since I was 13 years of age. During that particular time, life was crazy for me. I was undergoing that transition of child to teenager and the whole world seemed to change under me. And no one seemed to be going the same way I was going anymore. It was a very lonely time for me, and discovering their music was life-changing and saving. I got through a lot with those songs.

George just happened to be my "favorite Beatle", because I felt I could relate to him. He seemed real. Hearing about his death was like losing a part of my childhood, and I know a lot of other people feel the same.

That being said, I'm sure all of his friends and supporters will do a wonderful job remembering and honoring him tonight.

Does anyone know which of the Python members are appearing? I've heard Eric and Michael. Are any others?

~Mary

Ah! Good to see another George fan! Oddly enough, him and John are my faves! I'm listening to "Taxman" as I type.

I've always had a soft spot for the group, but it wasn't until recently that I started to get to know the group better. I'm working on a research essay on them for English class. (My other choices were Python or just Mr. P, though I am still including the Python connection in George's part.) They're music is just so free-spirited, energetic and uplifting! You can dance and sing to just about any of their songs! They just possessed so much power in their songs. It's hard to think of other groups that came close to what the Beatles came too. 4 of the greatest entertainers of all time!

And about that concert, I think it was just Michael and Eric. They we're the only ones listed on the bill.

I thought I'd seen something about it being only Eric and Michael too, but I was delightfully surprised to find I was wrong! I see someone here went to it! Lucky!

She likes the Beatles/George and Python/Michael Palin. Amazingly good taste, Kristine! :O)

Where are you from, again? (I'll keep everyone straight eventually...)

I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (And Proud of it. I love being a Canadian. Don't know why, but I do.)

And I'm glad that I was wrong too! It's great to hear that all the pythons (sept John) Where there! Nice to hear that I have good taste too :)

RIP Mr. Harrison!

I've been a Beatles fan since I was 12. I remember when John Lennon was killed and what a shock it was. Amazing enough though it helped me because I was going through a bad depression feeling sorry for myself at the time. When John died I forgot about myself and became more concerned about Yoko, his two sons and his friends who had lost him. To me, that was more important than my selfish thoughts about myself.

George was one of my favourites right from the start. The Beatles were the best and still are.

The concert was a lovely way to remember George.
