Hello, Verena, Welcome aboard. Where do you live... tell us more about yourself if you will. And join the fun here, of course. We have a diverse age and personality group, but we are all friendly and harmless!!

Howdy Verena and welcome aboard :o)

Friendly, harmless and a bit daft sometimes. There is a good competition about the Himalaya, where Michael has been recently, within about 2 pages back in 'Blathering On'. Try doing the competition without reading the answers which are on page 2 of that item and see if you can beat the winner. It is also amazing what the discussion topics are in Blathering On. I have never taken the time to read them all but I'm sure they could do with some editing.

Re: hello everyone by verena on 25 June 2004 2:46am
hi peripatetically!
i live in the center, close to university if you know where that is. i love munich, its one of the nicest towns i´ve ever been to, especially when you are a student. lot´s of things to do, and the beer festival :-)
where are you from?
Re: hello everyone by peripatetically on 25 June 2004 1:32pm
I live in Maryland, USA, about 30 miles from Washington, D.C., Verena. Are you a Munchener or a student from elsewhere just studying there? Hmm, I've probably been past the University a million times but I can't place it off-hand.... I've seen all the touristy sites, I suppose, and also met a man and his family who became lifelong friends. Now they live in Australia, so, sadly, it's been a while since we've seen each other. However, if not for them, I would not have experienced Bavaria on such a personal level while being treated like a queen at the same time. Family dinners, private social affairs, trips to areas not ordinarily visited by the average person, dinners and drinks at establishments not usually discovered by the casual traveler and more... On one excursion on my own, I was met by them in Garmisch where we all had dinner at a lovely restaurant. That's a pretty good indication of friendship when they drove through rush hour on a Friday afternoon just to meet me for one evening!! AND, it was raining during their drive!!!!!! Good friends and very charming.
So, is there another place where you can tell me the University is near??
Re: hello everyone by verena on 25 June 2004 3:42pm
the university is in the area called schwabing, opposite the "englischer garten". it´s quite a nice old building so you probably saw it when you were in munich. I grew up in a small town 50 km in the south of munich (quite close to the mountains) and moved to munich because of my studies ( i didn´t want to take the train every day and I wanted my own place).
if you ever come to munich, let me know!
i´ve been to the states 3 times, two times in the west for about 2 months each and once in rochester (NY) for half a year staying with a host family to improve my english. i like the states very much and also have some good friends over there.
