Life on Air programme by piglet on 16 December 2002 1:33am
I have just watched my video fo the programme Life on Air about Sir David Attenborough's life on air! I thought that Michael and Sir David made a good team together and i now wish I had been to a David Attenborough book signing!
The partnership of David talking to Michael was brilliant and would recommend anyone to watch that programme - will it be repeated? I hope so.

Michael has know Sir David for a long time dating back to Monty Python and Sir David being high up in the BBC Heirarchy and admire David very much for giving up the role of Director General to be presenter of LIfe on series, which I have greatly enjoyed. I was fascinated by what sir David had done in his career and talking to Michael just put the icing on the cake, they got on so well.

What did anyone else think of the programme, michael etc? did you smile your way through it?

I wonder if this will ever be available to buy? I would like to see it. We maybe lucky and it may show in NZ. Fingers crossed for one of these options!

Nice to see the chemistry between Sir David and Michael, of course he gave Monty Python their big break in the 60's. Again lets hope to see it repeated on BBC 4 or something.

ur killing me. BBC Scotland in their wisdom ( we r talking about the makers of River City) decided to show Judge John Deed instead of life on air. Can u believe it???????????????? They claim they r showing it on boxing day. i bot the radio times as soon as it came out to confirm this and it appears to be true but no doubt i will tune and find that in a change to the advertised schedules their showing river city. i'm not bitter or anything

Just out of interest, wasn't it David Frost who was around when Python was evolving, not David Attenborough? I know at least Michael and Terry J were working as script writers on "The Frost Report".

Or have I missed a joke here?? As I didn't see the programme.........a pox on TVNZ!!!!!!!

David A definitley knew Michael from monty python as it said so in the prog but not exactly why - will have to watch again and listen more carefully - pay attention Lyn stop drooling over MP's voice so much - dont think it would be out of order to send a vid of prog to nz would it? give me time though!
freakcc keep watching out for the prog north of the border- it is very interesting, feel that Michael is like a little boy learning from his teacher when he talks to david. Lyn

You're right Ellen, David Frost helped when Monty Python was getting together. He gave John and Michael some sketches in his show and the Two Ronnies for that matter. But David Attenborough was Head of BBC2 at the time and he commissioned the series to appear on the channel, that's why they know each other so well. Michael says he owes Sir David a debt of gratitude.

Thanks for the info on David A, Rich...I'd forgotten that. (As I think Ellen did as well??)

Re: Life on Air programme by piglet on 2 January 2003 12:39am
I have just received my signed David A photo (via E Bay sorry) and it is pride of place next to signed Pole to Pole video and awaiting the life on air book to be bought - so that i can put that next to MP books I have - so hats off to Sir David without him we might never have known of Michael, Happy New Year to them both, they touch our lives, probably more than they realise.
