What do you think of when you hear the word "AUSTRALIA"? by Izot on 20 July 2004 10:47am

OK, I have an assignment for Australian Studies which requires me to "Produce a collage that shows the diverse range of images that we regard as Australian." I must have pictures of things like the Australian people, the environment, culture, social systems and significant Australiana things.

What I thought would be a really good idea would be to ask foreigners what they thought of Australia, and in particular our culture, which I find hard to define myself. I've already done a photo search here and got a few pics of the Full Circle visit, but now I have to explore elsewhere - if you could give me a hand with my assignment, I'll be eternally grateful. =D

Have you seen "The Castle"? Or perhaps "Crocodile Dundee"? Think of those while I go away and look for things.

Steph.

PS thanks again!

Vegemite, "No worries", Kath & Kim, H&A, Ned Kelly, The Flying Doctor, The Bush Tucker Man, utes, poisonous beasties, Barry Humphries, Milo, weird sounding suburbs i.e. Wagga Wagga, Inawaralooralorawara (okay, I made that one up LOL), Bondi beach, casual clothing, A Country Practise, Shane Warne, Don Bradman, Harold Holt, odd way of pronouncing `debut`, `pasta` and a few other things which have slipped my mind, 40° temperatures, Midnight Oil, INXS, Gallipoli, the ever bizarre AFL, Pat Cash, inedible `snags`, lifeguards......

If I think of any others, I`ll list them too :o)

By the way, do Crowded House count? Kiwi property me thinks.
