Anyone been to Madagascar? by Bissalama on 28 July 2004 1:03pm
I want to go! Anyone know how to get there cheaply from the UK? Or of any conservation projects to join there?

Madagascar was a place i always wanted to visit, as a kid. I've still not been there. But i had a bit of a mythical idea of the place as this Noah's Ark continent floating there on it's own. A kind of Jurrasic Park. You can get an excellent guidebook for travel there, from Bradt guides. My edition of it is from 1994 or so, and i never actually made it there. So it's unused. But the book is probably the best one you can get if you're thinking of travelling there. It's very informative on local customs, legends, and wildlife. Bradt make travel guides for unsual destinations, and they are heavy on conservation info, wildlife, and trekking routes.Go to the site below, and put Madagascar in the search engine to see their book and also the wildlife book for Madagascar.
