Is there anybody out there? by RichB on 6 January 2003 4:10am

Thanks for the nice responses and great ideas about the UK Palin Convention, but so far there's about 3 people going, there seems to be more overseas interest. Little-peep don't worry about school, there is no definitive date as yet. We will go when those interested can all make it.

PLEASE COULD ALL THOSE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING SUCH AN EVENT NOW RESPOND TO THIS THREAD SO WE CAN GET AN IDEA OF HOW MANY WOULD LIKE TO GO. THANKYOU.

I'm planning a trip to the UK. It's possibly this Spring, but nothing's set yet. I was silly enough to plan last years UK trip around Mr. Palin's Birthday, who's to say I won't plan this years around a Palin Convention? ;) When the dates are set, I'll be able to give you a 'yay' or 'nay' shortly after.
Good Luck!

Oh yeah baby. Groooowwwwwl. Uh-huh uhhuh, yep yep yep. Yowsa wahoo. Brill idea. I must have taken a vacation to mars cos I missed the thread about every1 getting togetha.

Brill idea. And erm, Ellen, I'm a bit worried if you intend attending via a medium. Maybe you could get together with the Norwegian Blue that MP tried to sell to JC. scratch that. Hold on, I'll just get my ouija board out...... ooooh the glass is moving. whooops.... *crash* *bang* whoa hold on!! Help. Aaargh the board's got me. Aaaargh. No. Not water. Noooooo I'm melting......... melting........ (sound of sizzling into a big gloopy green pile of goo).....

Jen (been on the funny stuff again I think). Maybe it's just Monday and I'm freezing. ch-ch-ch-ch

Although I'm in the States, I'll definitely keep an eye on this. If it's at a time where my hubby and I could come to the UK for a few days...we'd be up for it!

Ellen.... a.k.a Glinda?

Had any marmite fixes in the past...ooooh 2 hours?

Just had an omelette with ham. Looked suspiciously like Spam tho.

Talking of spam (were we?) err anyone know what spam means? Is it an acronym? I've looked on the website for the wotsit co that invented it, and they tell you who was responsible for coming up with the name.... but no reason what it means. Maybe Slightly Porky Animal Meat. Any other ideas?

I also looked to see if the website had a sense of humour, but no. no mention of MPFC anywhere. Jeez u would have thought that the MPFC team glorifying the wonders (ok be it tongue very firmly dans le cheek) might have found SOME kind of mention. Ah well, there's no pleasin some folk.

Where are those funny pills again..... Somewhere over the ...... shhhh toto, there's a strange man with sticky up hair walking funny coming towards us. No, it's not MP (the very thought!) It's the crowscare. I mean um.. scrowcare. um. err.. mebbe I need to up the medication. A dose of marmite sandwiches maybe.

Phew. Had medicaiton. Feeling better now. To more serious things....

As to timing of "palinite convention", I think we could have a problem in having it in the first half of the year since (a) he is going south to see our antipodean friends for a marathon booksigning sesh, followed by a trip to the good ole US of A. So I can't imagine he'd be able to squeeze a lil ole convention in his honour much before then (although I would of course keep hoping).

Also, what kind of place would be the best? I thought the Royal Geographical Society might be an idea as they always love anything to do with nature, travel and keeping all traditions and quaint things just the way they are (rather than steam rollering things in the name of progression).

Any other ideas from any1?
