  The Chatter Box : Travel
Full Circle 2 by Gavinbryanjohn on 25 August 2004 7:32pm
Dear fellow Forum posters and readers

My name is Gavin John and I am 18 years old and I live in a small town just outside Calgary, Alberta, Canada.Ever since I was 13 Traveling has been my passion and I have been to many countries and mostly all of Canada. From Europe to Australia to China I have been looking for that one trip that will put an end to my serch for "That perfect Trip". However once returning I had that thirst for travel stronger than ever. However I had jsut recently read Mr. Palin's Book and then I had a real stupid idea. I am planing on retracing Mr. Palin's route around the Pacific Rim. However A trip like this will need a lot more planning than the other ones and a lot more details. I had found this website as a way to throw my idea up there. I also am going to film it and use that documentry for entry into Journalism School. So i guess i put a cause to this trip. I would love to ask all of u fellow travelers and enthusists some help. I also plan on not going alone and i need help finding what to look for in a travel partner. If everything goes to plan I will be leaving on this trip in July of 2006 and return in 2007 in aprox August. I hope that I will get lots of replys because I have never undertaken sucha trip before in my life and I need all the help I can get.
Feel Free to Emial me at [email protected]
And have the subject Your Trip (Because I have my Hotmail to exclusive and all ur emails will end up in the trash if i dont recognize them)
So I look forward to hearing from all of u and I will keep in touch

Gavin John

As mentioned before on a similar post, get back up for your journey. Do you work for a big conglomerate that would sponsor you for publicity? Are you famous in Canada? Have you done a 5 stage expedition before? I didn't count the stages in full circle but it was a lot more than 5 and Michael had to return to London at one point.

I totally understand where you are comming from. This trip wll be a lot mroe difficult that Mr. Palin's trip. I do not have a big corporation behind me (I wouldnt call my local news paper a big corporation) But if it is omney that is the reason then thats pointless. I work and a very high paying job. And no I am not Famous. But thats the point. I want to prove that Because I AM NOT famous that trips like this are possible. I want to show that if I can do it. The others can as well. Mabye i wil fail halfway or mabye even less through but I at least want to attempt it.
<<<Michael had to return to London at one point.>>> and yes i knew that. I DID read his book to get this Idea

I actually ended up following Michael Palin on a large stretch of Full Circle - pretty much Indonesia to Northern Canada.

I didn't know that he was doing the trip at the time, but soon got the idea when the 8th person said 'Guess who was here a couple of weeks ago?'

It's not that difficult, you need money yes, but in about 6-7 months I spent probably £4000 (UK Pounds).
