Medical elective Nepal/Tibet by brownsebastian on 7 November 2004 9:42pm

I'm planning a medical elective in Tibet/Nepal in April 2006. I have one/two contacts but if anyone has done something similar or knows anyone out there who can help it would be much appreciated. I am finding the Chinese unsuprisingly reluctant to let me into a tibetan monastary!

I have visited both Nepal and Tibet as part of a group. There are several clinics in Nepal where you would probably be able to work. In Tibet I did manage to visit some of the traditional Tibetean doctors clinics at the monastaries but only by leaving the group and ensuring that the guide and any Chinese did not see me.

Hi Seb. The following website may be of help. I did an elective at Kanti Children's Hospital in Kathmandu this year, and am already booked to return to Nepal in 2005.
