Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Trafalgar Square, St. Martin in the Fields, the British Museum and Soho are located pretty close to each other. I think Picadilly Circus is right there, too.

Some more ideas for you:

The London Eye, huge ferris wheel just across the river from Parliament.
St. Paul's Cathedral.
Tate Modern.
Oxford, Regent and Bond Streets for shopping.
Greenwich - Royal Observatory, National Maritime Museum, and Greenwich Park.
West End Theatres.

Hope that gives you some more ideas.

I second the suggestion of St. Paul's.

I thought Tate Modern was crap, as is the Saachi gallery! Go to Tate Britain, it's far better. Also, if you wanna see a show down there I suggest you see We Will Rock You. I saw it and thought it was fantastic. Then there is the usual stuff like the houses of parliment and big ben, which are actually really impressive if you get to see them yourself. Then again you could just sit outside the Palins Travels office for three days and see what happens! :0)

ps. where are you staying?

Thanks everyone for your ideas. That gives me a good idea on where to concentrate on!.

Im staying just a stone's throw from Tate Britain and within walking distance from Buckingham Palace so it sounds pretty central. The hotel is called The Dolphin Square. Its supposed to be converted apartments so the rooms are big(unusual for London!).

I was really wanting to see We will rock you as my wife is a big queen fan!.I was in London four years ago but it was for the wimbledon tennis so i did'nt get to see man sights so am looking forward to it even though it will be freezing cold!.......Neil

Don't forget the Imperial War Museum and the Science Museum, both of which are excellent. The latter you could probably spend two days in quite easily.

The Tates I enjoyed (both)although it's horses for courses really, and although the reviews for We Will Rock You aren't altogether brilliant, I hope you enjoy it.

If you feel so inclined though, a night out at the Brixton Academy might be a worthile alternative if you can hang on a little longer for Brian May, Roger Taylor and singer Paul Rodgers' tour later this year.....!
