BBC 2 Natural World by Godfather on 19 December 2004 7:56pm

Should be good. Tonight at 18:00-19:00

Apparently it's covering the range of the Andes from the Atacama desert all the way to the Glaciers. Should be good. It's an episode of "The Natural World". Not one i usually watch. But this sounds good. And apparently the meek are going to inherit the earth. That's nice is'nt. It's about time they got something, because they've ad an ell of a time.

Did anyone else watch the program? It was absolutely stunning. I'd forgotten just how astoundingly beautiful and powerful that continent is in terms of terrain.

I've travelled much of the Andean region. But seeing it again with all those dramatic flyovers with cameras over snowy peaks, glaciers, salt flats, deserts and jungles, really hit home again how astounding the terrain is there. It's a real adventure destination.

The Glacier just running off into the sea near Argentina. Oh man. What a piece of natural artwork. Titanic in size, and menacingly beautiful. Gouging out the surrounding terrain. I cant wait to go back to South America someday. But i fear to go back to areas i've been to, because i dont want my memories of the place from 6 years ago, to be ruined. It was a sacred experience for me, that trip.

So my next trip could be Chile and Argentina i think. Patagonia,Torres Del Paine etc. I've gotta see those glaciers some day firsthand. Feel the icy cold breeze coming off them, and the cracking as they grow. And Antartica if i'm very lucky with cash. Both were on the cards for this year, but i left it too late to get flights at a reasonable price. The program really fired my imagination again.

Did anyone else see it?

Yeah, I was pretty impressed as well though can not see travel to that region in the near future. My adventures have been largely confined to Africa (and central Asia in the near future) though the Andes does look stunning and the programme was beautifully made.

I liked the sunbathing Rabbits (well, not Rabbits according to the presenter). So may funny moments in there. Also the penguins just barging there way through the sealion colony at a time of year when they wont be eaten by the sealions. Very nice program indeed.
