Since he's going to New York... by Helen on 7 February 2003 3:51pm
... Couldn't he stop at the University of CT? Only a mere 3 hours away... I thought of MP doing a booksigning at the UConn Co-op bookstore, (where my hubby works).
Wally Lamb did and amazing presentation and reading last night, along with some of the former inmates/writers from his new book, "Couldn't Keep it to Myself."
He signed a book for me with a heartwarming and inspirational message-- because i told him that I am a social worker who tries to find employment for ex-felons.
Wally is a swell guy.. couldn't tell if he wore wing tips, but I digress...
And Sam Pickering is our buddy, always stopping by to tell his bawdy jokes in his southern accent.
Michael would fit right in.
And I could interview him at the University radio station to promote the event.
Oh please?

Well, i get points for trying I suppose. Sigh.
Would be a treat..

I think it would be great to do a university tour in the States! The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign is conveniently located (OK, maybe not) in the center of the state, a mere 3 hours from Chicago. :P

Honestly, though, I think it would be really cool, and I have no doubt that turn-out for a former Python would be huge. I need some way to get him to the States so I can meet him! The one time I heard about him being in Chicago, I was going to be in Florida for a week. *sigh*

I don't see any reason why he shouldn't come to Ohio Northern :) I mean its only in ada, the smallest town ever and there is basically only 1 main road and guess what its called....if you guessed main street you'd be right :) But one interesting thing about ada is that footballs for the NFL are made here somewhere...that'd be a good travel show for Michael.

And I bet the turn out for a python would be huge at any college.

The turnout when John Cleese comes to Cornell University is huge (he's a Prof-at-Large... I love this school :-D). It's tough to get tickets for his lectures. I imagine Michael would be just as popular.

And if he did do a university tour, I wouldn't have to worry about getting to NYC and back. In fact, he could stop at Cornell the day before his NYC booksigning to visit John, who'll be here giving a lecture! Then there'd be two Pythons here at once! C'mon, Michael, whaddya say?

Interesting about ol' Cleesey and Cornell... That's great! I wish I could say a Python taught at my alma mater-- but hey, Wally Lamb taught here, and he's no slouch! :) but a Python-- wow....A real live Python.

A University tour is a smashing idea.!
Please Michael? Don't make us beg! (too late!)
We have great restaurants out here, too. Do you like clam chowdah?

Righto, I'm game for Michael to do a University tour of the US. ;O)

I haven't quite thought of a reason for him to come to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh yet, but it'll come... ;O)

You're from Oshkosh, Wisconsin Rusted?
I know Oshkosh! But only from my 5th, 6th and 7th grade English book. There were lots of stories about some people from Oshkosh!

A Univeristy tour would be great... But unfortunatly, I'm not quite in univeristy yet. *sigh* Wow, seeing John Cleese and Michael Palin back to back... Damn dream come true for me! I'd settle for just one too. Even if I just got to meet just John! (I've always liked John...)

I am indeed, Mr. Anchovy. :O)

Where are you from and why were there stories about my city in your English book, out of curiousity? ;O)

Hey, Krissy, it doesn't matter if you go to a university yet - so long as he comes to one in your city/nearby, no? LOL!

Re: Since he's going to New York... by Mr. Anchovy on 12 February 2003 4:27pm
I'm from Stuttgart, Germany (home of Daimler-Chrysler and maybe host of the 2012 Olympic Games).
Well, actually I have no idea why there were those stories. You know, it was about some teenagers from Oshkosh and what there are doing at High School and on and on and on. It just should inform us about high school life in America and so on. I'll try to find the book, maybe I kept it and I'll tell you more about it!
